I didn't even have a computer in my dorm room. She's 5 and using an iPad. Her generation will be amazing.
There will be positives and negatives, and we need to be ready for them. But their little minds will become big minds that create processes for things like global water purification, and cures for things like cancer and ignorance.
Although, none of it will really matter unless they figure out a way to make ice cream calorie free.

yeah....umm, is it bad that my 1 1/2 year old also knows how to use an iPad, as well as my iPhone. She can play all the games on both of them, but she can also count to 10 forwards and backwards - so I mustn't be a total failure as a Mother. Lol
Let me know when that calorie free ice cream comes out, and see if they can throw in chocolate as well with that scientific formula...
Wow! 1 1/2 and she's using those things? Amazing.
Oh, I forgot about chocolate....good call.
We're the same. My 2-year-old loves to play Webkinz Junior on the computer. I'm impressed and worried at the same time. Also with you on your last point. Our future great minds need to work on things that are truly important. I'm hoping for calorie-free chocolate chip cookies.
My 2 year old managed to turn my monitor display upside down today in the time it took me to pee. It then took me 15 minutes to turn it right. I actually turned the entire monitor (it's not on a swivel mount) so I could work the mouse!
My kids are 11 and 13 and I already can't help them with math.
So I tell them they have to wait until their dad gets home.
Then I eat a lot of ice cream and pretend I don't give a crap.
(but the one good thing about poor math skills? i have no idea what the calories/per serving information means. Hooray for me!)
It definitely will be a totally different generation1
I love what you said here! So true. I came to terms a long time ago that my kids will be able to outsmart me with their technology knowledge in the near future (who are we kidding, Tommy sometimes helps me take pictures on my cell phone as it is)
you are so right. It is amazing seeing what these kids do. My DD pretends one of her compacts is a sliding phone and she texts like crazy. I don't text that often so I don't have a clue where she picked it up.
